There is no historical parallel for the task Black people in America faced: rising up from the shackles of slavery while living under the gun of their opressors as a minority. Colonizers in other places in the world generally left, for the most part, but Black people in America had a different road to travel and we need to appreciate that.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is regarded as a saintly, inerrant figure. But is his elevation artificial? The white press and broader white validation have a lot to do with his place in history and in the American psyche. Ultimately, Dr. King's elevation is a win for white people.

But the Black church, for all the good it has done, is not a prophetic voice one need respect anymore. The white church has no moral authority to critique it, but I do.
